The Civil Engineering (CE) Pac provides thirteen modules that calculate different functions for stress, strain, beams with various loads (point, distributed, moment or trapezoid), bolt capacities, steel column loads and vector operations.

The user interface provides an intuitive input view with validation of range values and necessary input parameters. The output is presented in an easily comprehendible format.

Beams Fixed at Both Ends module calculates deflection, slope, moment and shear at any specified point along a beam fixed at both ends of uniform cross section. Any of four types of loads or combinations of these loads can be modeled.

Cantilever Beams module calculates deflection, slope, moment and shear at any specified point along a rigidly fixed, cantilever beam of uniform cross section. Any of four types of loads or combinations of these loads can be modeled.

Propped Cantilever Beams module deflection, slope, moment and shear at any specified point along a propped cantilever beam of uniform cross section. Any of four types of loads or combinations of these loads can be modeled.

Simply Supported Beams module calculates deflection, slope, moment and shear at any specified point along a simply supported beam of uniform cross section. Any of four types of loads or combinations of these loads can be modeled.

Vector Operations module performs basic two-dimensional arithmetic vector operations and solves for two reactionary forces. The arithmetic operations are addition, subtraction, cross products, dot or scalar or inner product and the angle between two vectors. For a given two-dimensional force vector, the program calculates the magnitude of two reaction forces to balance the force vector.

Section Properties module calculates the properties of polygonal sections including the removal of circular of polygon-shaped areas within an overall polygon section. These properties include the area, centroid coordinates and different moments of inertia about the original, translated to centroid, principal and arbitrary axis with a rotation angle.

Properties of Special Sections module calculates the dimensions or principle moment of inertia about the x axis or y axis for several common sections. These sections are rectangles, triangles, ellipses, circles and concentric circles.

Linear and Angular Deformation module calculates linear deflection under tensile load or angular deflection under torque load. For linear deflection, the change in length is defined in terms of the applied load, length, cross sectional area and modulus of elasticity. For angular deformation, the deflection angle is defined in terms of the torque applied, length, polar moment of inertia and modulus of elasticity in shear. Given four of the five variables, the program calculates the remaining unknown value.

Bending or Torsional Stress module calculates bending stress for a beam or torsional stress for a shaft. For a beam, the normal stress (s) is defined in terms of the moment applied, distance from the neutral axis and moment of inertia. For a shaft, the stress is defined in terms of the torque applied, distance from the shaft center to the point of interest and the polar moment of inertia. Given three of the four variables, the program calculates the remaining unknown value.

Element Stress module calculates stress and strain parameters based on rosette strain gage measurements and performs Mohr circle stress analysis calculations.

Reinforced concrete Beams module calculates parameters for a rectangular reinforced concrete beam.

Steel Columns module calculates the allowable load and the maximum load for structural steel columns.

Bolt Torque module calculates either the load resulting from a specific torque or the torque that will yield a specific bolt load. The sheer stress in the body of the bolt may also be calculated.
