There are many reasons for children wetting the bed and it is useful to check out with your medical practitioner that there is no underlying medical cause. Frequently the cause is late development of this particular system in the body. However very often one of the contributing factors is your child’s expectation that they will wet the bed, since this has been going on so long, and also a lack of belief that this is something over which they can take control. This recording addresses these issues and gives powerful suggestions for positive expectancy and taking control. This is done with ideas and imagery suitable for the age group. For maximum benefit, let them listen to the recording, preferably nightly, for several weeks. Although some children respond immediately, it is quite normal to expect progress over 6-8 weeks or maybe longer.

Play the recording at bedtime
They can relax and drift off to sleep at the end. If you find that they fall asleep more or less immediately, let them listen at a quiet time earlier on before bedtime instead, or as well as, when they go to bed. The recording should be in addition to, rather than instead of, any usual bedtime rituals or reading so that they don’t feel deprived in any way.

Imaginative framework
Children relax comfortably and deeply, and imagine their mind as a mental computer with programs for running all the systems in the body. They are given instructions to look for errors in the system or negative beliefs and delete them. They then need to readjust the settings for controlling the bladder so that they respond immediately to its signals in order that they wake up when necessary and walk to the toilet. Or if the bladder is not really full, the suggestions tell them to let the bladder stretch and stay closed so that they can sleep all night and wake up in the morning to a warm, dry and comfy bed. In addition they receive a powerful boost to their confidence and self esteem which has often taken a bit of a battering over the years of dealing with this problem. At that point they visualize themselves waking up dry and comfortable in the morning feeling very pleased and proud of themselves and, of course, surprising and delighting their families with their new found abilities.

Successful approach
This kind of approach is completely natural and safe. Research shows that when a person first acts out each positive step in their imagination, it dramatically increases the likelihood of their success in the real world. This recording also contains powerful suggestions for boosting confidence and self esteem. The computer imagery has great appeal to the interests of this particular age group.
