iPhone App Review: iTalk to God

iPhone App Review: iTalk to God

February 16th, 2010 by

The app scene is full of programs like FML (and many variations of FML) that highlight the negative aspects of life and offer only an option for users to agree or disagree that someone’s life sucks. iTalk to God offers a completely different way to face issues and emotions that come up in life. Would it not be nice to tell an app how you feel and the app return with a positive and spiritual way of dealing with that feeling? Well this app may be just the thing that you need to get through life and feel good about the way you face your issues.

iTalk to God Pros

iTalk to God had a positive message that is hard to ignore. The Bible verses don’t always say that it will be an easy road ahead, but they help you to remember that God always has it under control. This app has a great selections of problems or emotions that a person may be struggling with and addresses them with sound advice and scriptural reference (over 70 topics). iTalk to God has easy to use controls and easy to read font that makes using it a pleasure. You can even choose and download your favorite translation. There is a free version of this app that allows you to try before you buy, but I am sure that if you are one that likes a spiritual pep talk from time to time, this app is for you.

iTalk to God Cons

The paid version offers a wider selection of verses that accompany the different categories but this still feels a bit restrictive. For example, I know of many verses that pertain to anger and this app does not cover them all. While using this app I felt that a forum type discussion section would be a helpful way for people to give and receive spiritual advice. Sometimes it is nice to hear a good suggestion from another human and not a pre-recorded response to an issue. Then again, the app is called iTalk to God.

Pros:

– Positive message for most instances
– Good selections of emotions and struggles
– Gives you the ability to try it out before buying it
– Easy to read font
– Extra suggestions to accompany the verses

Cons:

– May be room for a social application
– A little restricting or lacks depth

It was a nice change to see an app that encourages people with solid scripture and biblical suggestions. For all of the apps that offer or highlight negative aspects in life with no answer, it is nice to see an app that has a different spin on life’s little struggles. I liked this app a lot and would suggest it to anyone who would benefit from spiritual advice (a.k.a everyone!)

I give this app a 9/10 because of the positive message.

It is possible that the negative comment is from a competitor to iTalk to God. Just saying……

Here is another thought regarding the usefulness of this app: it puts the verses specific to your emotion right at your fingertips. I mean, could you really find 10 verses on feeling Depressed while searching through the Bible? With iTalk to God it takes about 3 seconds. I think you get my point.

      thats pretty rad

I really did like this app. Like I said in the review, this was a positive answer to problems that typically warrant negative responses from other apps. Personal religious perspective, or lack there of, set aside this is an app that is tailored to a specific audience and its review was based of the content as well as the ease of use. I did not give this app a good score based on the price paid or how it agrees with my personal belief. I hope that this clarifies some disconnect for you. My rating remains the same; 9/10. By the way, you may benefit from the anger and/or doubt section of this app.

Really 9/10? This might be a prime example of the negative effects of pay-per-review. Apart from this app being a shallow attempt to make money off of religion, its useless. They make bibles the size of iphones. This is about as useful as the apps that give you jokes to tell around the water cooler because you just aren't clever enough. Why is this even attention worthy? Oh wait "$100, gets a review from one of our intelligent, non-biased, iPhone App reviewers."

Would you like to become a reviewer? Obviously your opinion is not shared with the reviewer, that seems like a classic case of… subjective opinion. The reviewers have given high ratings, and low ratings, regardless of whether it was Pay Per Review or not. Either way, it seems like the real problem, is that you have an issue with the Bible.

Once again, if you think you can do a better job reviewing and being non-biased, then become a reviewer for FreshApps yourself.
