Beatrix Potter was born in 1866 and during her lifetime she published 23 books the first of which was “The Tale of Peter Rabbit”.

Miss Potter wrote and illustrated the books and with the proceeds she acquired 4000 acres of the Lake District that she left to the National Trust on her death in 1943 for the nation to enjoy forever.

She was also very active in preserving rare breeds of sheep.

Today her books continue to capture the imagination of both children and adults alike.
