iPhone App Review: 2Bounce2

iPhone App Review: 2Bounce2

January 21st, 2012 by

Keeping up with what’s going on in the world should be easier these days than in other time in history, with the ubiquitousness of digital devices and the internet. Along with that instant connection to the happenings in the world also comes an endless stream of information, only some of which one may find relevant or interesting. Having the busy scheduled of work and school only makes it harder to keep up.

2Bounce2 is a new app that is a daily blog feed of the latest news, fun facts, health tips, and other interesting articles that can help keep you in the loop about what’s going on in the world by just opening up the app throughout the day.

How It Works

When you first launch the app you are on the Latest feed, which lists all of the latest news and posts in reverse chronological order, like a blog. You can also browse by categories, which are Career Information, Fun Facts, Health Tips, Thought For The Day, and Today’s News. There is a search box and an archive accessible from the main screen, and under the More tab you can access a customizable favorites list, a tags list, and some links and information about the app.

You basically just browse the app, read the articles, and if you like one you can add it to your favorites list for later by tapping the star icon in the top right corner. It’s a news feed reader with several categories that seems to post about one or two articles per day.

Pros And Cons

The app itself works well and loads the pages and articles quickly, and I’m glad they th0ught to include the ability to store articles on a favorites list. The articles themselves are also chosen well, spreading across a broad category of interesting topics that aren’t simply lifted from the front page of Digg or Reddit the CNN website. Right next to an article about Mark Zuckerberg’s first tweet in 3 years, you have an article about the least healthy breakfast cereals. It’s a fun, refreshing blend of real news and fun to read articles that you may not come across on your own, and it all works well together.

The main problem right now with the app, and its accompanying website, is the lack of content. There don’t seem to be more than one or two things posted per day, if that often, and some of the categories have spreads of over a week between posts. These really are interesting posts that are worth reading for the most part, and I would love to see more of it updated more often.

2Bounce2 is an interesting collection of articles and posts from the corners of the internet that not all of us have the time or the energy to explore. With mainstream interest news posts next to interesting and informative health or career articles, you have a lot of easy-to-digest material here to keep you engaged. Hopefully they themselves soon have the time and the energy to shovel more content into the app, so we can all have more interesting stuff to read.
